A Birthday Gift to You

I’ve always been better at giving than receiving, however, today is my birthday and I would like to do some re-balancing on that. And you can help!

I’ve turned on the ability to support “Mindset with Roxanne Darling” with a paid subscription and am happy to say I’ve posted weekly on Mondays as promised, without exception. I realized once I started writing, that my deeper goal is to create a place where we can feel better together. To make a zone outside of the rampant complaints and shit shows that populate our collective internet and news feeds. It’s hard for that stuff not to bring us down! But as I queried in my last post, The Re-wiring of Our Brains, many of us are already doing the heavy lifting that often goes unnoticed in human evolution. We are choosing to turn off and ignore the rage fests, as there will always be issues that anger us. We are choosing to walk toward grace, be it not counting the items in the basket in front of us at the ‘10 and under’ aisle or smiling at a cashier and thanking them for coming to work today.I had solar panels installed this past week at my home and I fed the crew homemade green chile burritos and hot coffee. They were stunned and said it was only the second time in four years a homeowner offered sustenance to them. I share this not to brag, and certainly not to humble brag (what even is that, anyway?) but to suggest it as a possibility, in case you want to join me. I’d love to hear your gestures, too.

A colleague shared a business article once stating that emails ending with “Thank you,” get a higher response rate. I thought that is the ultimate win-win! So I put it in my email signature. But she didn’t and rarely uttered those magical words. We all trip across good ideas but it takes consciousness to effect change. That’s what I hope to inspire here — a weekly pause to examine what little things can I be doing that will add up in both my life and the lives of others? So as I launch the option for paid subscriptions, I’ve created a 50% off coupon for all of you: my early adopters, the true supporters, the ones who are supporting me here with your kind and curious attention. It’s valid through January 7th. I thank you very much for finding me and subscribing as this publication is in its infancy! So click the button below if you’d like to lock in a half-price subscription for the duration of Mindset with Roxanne Darling. Thank you for reading and for being you.

Now for a few fun links since I brought nudity into this post, .I’m a longtime lover of skinny-dipping and being nude in nature. You may not know about my self-portrait and poetry project which is one of the most meaningful things I’ve done in my life. And I’m also sharing two articles that landed in my world this weekend that aim to help us feel better together by becoming ever more comfortable in our skins — literally and figuratively.Self-Portraits and Poetry: For the Love of Nature (My website)This Map Shows You Where You Can Sunbathe Nude Around the World (Travel & Leisure)How to Feel Better Naked (Gift link on NYTimes)
